Erectile dysfunction is a major health problem that significantly impacts the quality of life of men. The horny goat weed, also called Yinyanghuo, has been extensively used in Chinese traditional herbal medicine for treating erectile dysfunction.
A study performed in 2021 by Yang and colleagues at the Capital Medical University in Beijing, China used a molecular network pharmacology approach to analyze the mechanism of horny goat weed as erectile dysfunction therapy. This study identified and proved that 4 molecular targets could be involved in the therapeutic effects on erectile dysfunction. Studies like this will gradually prove, at the molecular level, the medicinal actions of herbal remedies. The study was published in the Scientific journal Andrologia.
